In the heart of the Midwest lies the state of Missouri. This beautiful gem of a state is a land of surprising contrasts. Plains gently swell into the rolling forest covered Ozark Mountains. Lakes dot the countryside, filled with hungry bass just waiting for a would-be angler to wet their line. Missouri has 49 state parks, hosts the Mark Twain National Forest, and is home to the 225-mile Katy Trail (America’s longest rail-to-trail hiking/biking trail). With all of these great outdoor locations and exciting activities, it is no surprise that Jeep® Jamboree USA has returned to south central Missouri for the 4th Annual Top of the Ozarks Jeep Jamboree.
The Top of the Ozarks Jeep Jamboree is held at the Southern Missouri Off-Road Ranch in Seymour, Missouri. With over 900 acres of varying obstacles, including mud and rock, this is a jamboree you won’t want to miss. Located in south central Missouri, you’re only a short drive from some of the most scenic outdoor recreation areas in the state. Jeep Jamboree USA usually chooses venues with a variety of recreation activities outside the Jamboree itself. The Top of the Ozarks Jamboree is no exception. Whether you’re an avid outdoor person, or you like a few more creature comforts, you’re bound to find something to your taste here.
In addition to the excitement offered by the jamboree, Branson, Missouri offers up a different kind of adventure. Sometimes called the Las Vegas of the Midwest, Branson has a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities. If you are interested in live entertainment, Branson’s numerous theaters host a myriad of musical and variety shows. While many of the acts feature “revisits” or “cover” acts. There are always a few big name performers. Some of the more popular acts you can see are the Gatlin Brothers, Jim Stafford, Mel Tillis, Sawyer Brown, Andy Williams, and Travis Tritt, to name a few. Nearby, you can take a step back to the 1880’s in Branson’s Silver Dollar City theme park which features local arts and crafts, over 30 rides and 40 live entertainment shows daily. For an adventure that is both thrilling and beautiful, several companies offer zip-lining through the Ozark Mountain treetops.
Want an add-on a little bit off the beaten path? The Mark Twain National Forest and National Scenic River is located in central and southern Missouri with 1.5 million acres to explore. Try your hand at trout fishing or canoeing in the cold, clear North Fork River. If fishing doesn’t appeal, you may decide to day hike or backpack on one of the many trails located throughout this massive national forest. For something more relaxing explore the forest from inside your Jeep brand vehicle. There are numerous scenic by-ways with names like “Blue Buck Knob” and “Sugar Camp” that offer stunning views of the beautiful Ozarks from the comfort of your vehicle.
With all the recreation opportunities, you’ll want to make sure you’ve made some extra time to sample some of the best indoor and outdoor fun in the Midwest!
