Just because you’re introduced to the Jeep® brand way by one classic model doesn’t mean that’s where your faith is going to take you moving forward. Flint Boardman, the man behind the curtain at JubileeJeeps.org can thank his father for planting the seeds that would eventually grow into a life-long interest in Jeep brand vehicles. When he was five years old, Flint’s father had a 1951 Willys Wagon, and while that vehicle was enough to spark his interest, Flint has spent years working with full-size Jeep brand classics as a result.
“I almost bought a ‘63 Wagoneer when I was 17, but someone else got there with cash before me. Then I was stationed on the Florida panhandle in the Coast Guard in 1976. I bought a J4000 to use for shark fishing. It was equipped with a 360 engine, a T18 transmission and a D20 transfer case with dual exhaust, and it would go anywhere I pointed it on the white sugar sands of the panhandle. Sadly, I sold it when I got orders to go to Hawaii in ‘78. There were two years where I did not have an FSJ. When I got out of the Coast Guard and went back to South Texas, I got a ‘76 401 Wagoneer to shark fish with. All these years later, and now I am in South West Colorado. Our FSJs get used for recreation mostly by going places like Moab, Ouray and Las Cruces to join other FSJers to have fun.”
We admire your passion, Flint. Maybe we’ll see you and the rest of the FSJers in Moab sometime soon.
