Engineers’ Log: Moab EJS Day 3

“Moab Easter Jeep Safari: Day 3
___________________________________________________________________________

Hello to all !

Another nice day in Moab Utah — 80 degrees and mostly sunny! New arrivals showed up from Chrysler – Design Office, Mopar, Marketing, PR, etc and the team split into various groups and activities. So many things to do here, it takes a full team to cover all aspects of a Safari.

Some of the Mopar team spent the day prepping and finalizing the new Underground vehicles as Jeep meets with the media folks tomorrow to let them drive the new projects.

Meanwhile, Engineering was invited on the Warn Industries trail ride (See our picture with Bob and Ken from Warn). First, thanks for the invite! We had a great day of 4 wheeling with 31 other rigs — Mostly Jeeps!

What a day! The trail was Cliffhanger. This trail has a lot of challenging events to keep it interesting. Just the entry into the trail is difficult, and you have to go back up it as the last event. A lot of steep rock climbs, large boulders, and some serious waterfall ledges — Aka : FUN! Thank goodness for lockers, good tires, and a 4:1 t-case. Certainly used the skid plates!

Many industry folks were there including magazine editors, various aftermarket manufacturers, and TV / video crews — all with built rigs. I had the smallest “regular Jeep” there, and was the only vehicle without a winch. Luckily, we didn’t need one.

A good day of trail talk – sharing opinions on the 4WD market and what are the current trends. Made some new Jeep friends and had a great day — very happy, a little tired!”
