Each Friday on the Jeep® Blog, we explore the Jeep brand’s iconic heritage by highlighting a different historical vehicle. This week’s vehicle is the 1976–1983 Jeep J-10 Honcho.
It didn’t really need “Honcho” in bold letters on the passenger door — when a vehicle is truly “Mucho Macho,” it can do whatever it wants!
The Jeep J-10 Honcho was clearly a boss, thanks to its distinctive gold striping on the bedside, fenders and tailgate. The Honcho had wide 8×15-inch spoke wheels and a nice interior. The truck equivalent of the wide-track Cherokee Chief, the Honcho model was brawny, powerful and tough with rugged frames, axles and suspension.
In 1983, the Laredo package replaced the Honcho, but the Honcho will forever live on as a classic Jeep brand vehicle from a bygone era.
We’re making our way to the end of the 1970s in our regular Jeep heritage retrospective. Stay tuned to the Jeep Blog as we explore another vehicle next week.
