Engineers’ Log: Live from Moab

It’s that time of the year again, and the Jeep® brand is headed to Moab, UT for the 45th Annual Easter Jeep® Safari. Every year hundreds of loyal owners bring their rigs out for a full week of wheeling in the Moab desert’s numerous breathtaking and challenging trails. Not to be left out, our engineers (and biggest fans) were already out on the rocks for opening day logging their adventures. Check out their notes below and follow engineers Jim Repp and Ray Durham here live from the trails in Moab!

“Friday, 4/15:
Moab: Day 1

Hello Jeepers !

Today it starts! The 45th Easter Jeep Safari is here, and some of us engineers are already on site to participate. We got in late and tired from the trip, but still had some daylight. Hmmm, eat dinner or go wheeling? Well, that was a short thought! We headed right out to the Poison Spider trail and ran a good portion of the trail, making it out just at dark. Fun trail with some interesting rock challenges – a good start to the week.

We’re also out there on the trail watching a lot of talented Jeep Folk driving their rigs. We met several groups already and listened intently staying sort of “incognito” to hear what real customers have to say.

We came early, on vacation, to get in some trail time before our work time begins here. Yes, we’re Jeep Geeks just like you.

OK – Hello from MOAB! Tomorrow: The Rim — Oh yea!!

Here are some pics from the day.”

“Saturday 4/16
Moab: Day 2:
Sunny and 68 degrees

We had a healthy breakfast in town and then hit the trail. Today, we first ran Porcupine Rim Trail and our Jeeps did great! Met up with some other Jeep folks and ran with them all day — people from Texas, Arizona, Wyoming, and Michigan. Fun trail with some rock challenges; however, the best part is the GREAT overlook on the 1000 ft high cliffs including one that looks down into a huge valley. Hwy 128 is way down there! WOW! Lots of activity on the trail; bikes, ATVs, motorcycles and Jeeps of course!

We finished around 3:30 or so. Hmm, go into town or wheel? Surprise, decided to go to Hells Revenge and run Hells Gate. That was fun! Saw a few of the Mopar Underground vehicles today on the trail — cool!

Another great day at Safari … We love Jeeping!”
