Fridays on the Jeep® Blog, we’re featuring some of our favorite concept vehicles. This week, check out the 2012 Jeep J-12 concept model.
Along with the Jeep Wrangler Traildozer concept vehicle that we released at the Jeep Easter Safari in 2012, we also brought along the J-12 concept vehicle. The J-12 was a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with an extended version of the Mopar® JK-8 pickup conversion kit.
To start, the J-12’s chassis was stretched by 18 inches, providing a full six feet of truck bed space. This allowed designers to move the spare tire underneath the bed floor. The front of the vehicle had a carbon fiber grille and front fender fitted on in place of the JK grille, giving the J-12 its retro-style appearance.
The J-12 was then outfitted with a Mopar® three-inch suspension lift kit and 36-inch tires. The vehicle had a standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and provided 285 horsepower. It as also equipped with a Mopar® fuel-filler door and Mopar® slush mats.
The interior of the J-12 went back to the basics. It featured a modernized bench instead of bucket seats and included plaid accents throughout.
