Jeep® Lifestyle – Colorado

We’re very excited to share information on one of our favorite off-roading states – Colorado!  After taking our Jeep® Rubicon all over the United States, Colorado is definitely at the top of our favorite destination list.  For those who have been there, the reason is clear: the unbelievable scenery and dramatic mountain views which are easily accessible from high mountain roads and off-highway trails. Thanks to the thousands of miles of old mining roads located on mostly public lands, avid off-roaders can wind their way through the many mountain ranges.  These old roads are the perfect venue for a lifetime of Jeep 4×4 adventure in a spectacular setting.

In the southern part of the state, Colorado’s San Juan Mountains are the ultimate example of outstanding scenery and challenging off-highway roads.  Located in the heart of the San Juan mountain range, the Alpine Loop Road is one of the best off-highway routes in Colorado.  Although not technically difficult, this 65-mile loop crosses two 12,000-foot passes and is perfect for viewing the splendor of the Rocky Mountains.  Dramatic peaks, abundant wildlife, pristine wilderness, and historic landmarks are the reward for this all-day adventure.  Along the loop there are many options for outdoor adventure. The loop road provides hiking access to the summit of many mountains, including four peaks over 14,000 feet high.  There are also opportunities for fishing, mountain biking, camping, and wildlife viewing along the way. Need something a little closer to the Denver area?  The Mount Antero Road is another one of our favorite Colorado destinations.  Located near Buena Vista, this scenic fourteen-mile 4×4 road begins at 9,400 feet and climbs to 13,800 feet to near the top of Mount Antero.  At the end of the road, you can park your Jeep 4×4 and do a short hike to the summit of the mountain, topping out at 14,269 feet!  This is a more advanced road, but your stock Jeep 4×4 should have no trouble negotiating the more difficult sections.  After your day of off-highway adventure, head over to Buena Vista, where there are several white water outfitters available to guide you down the Arkansas River.

Do you think you live too far from Colorado to enjoy the Alpine Loop or Mount Antero road?  If you need to fly to Colorado and can’t bring your own rig, Jeep 4×4 rentals are available in most of the small towns nearby, including Lake City (the beginning and end of the Alpine Loop) and Buena Vista, where a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon rents for about $150.00 per day.

We could go on and on about the exciting off-roading and outdoor adventure activities available in the state of Colorado. There is so much to do in this state that we can only scratch the surface, but whatever you decide, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of the off-roading, outdoor activities, mountain views, and abundant wildlife.  The best part: You can experience it all from the seat of your Jeep brand vehicle.

Have you ever been on the Alpine Loop or Mount Antero road?  Tell us about your Jeep 4×4 adventure in the state of Colorado.
