Want a little more off-roading after the Jamboree? There are several challenging off-roading parks located within two hours of Llano. If you’re ready for something new, Austin is within easy driving distance of the Jamboree. Austin holds the distinction of being both the state capitol and the music capitol of Texas. Home of the University of Texas, there are any number of trendy eateries and as well. If you have enough time, drive a little further south to San Antonio. The Alamo, where a small band of Texans made a heroic stand against the Mexican army, is as fascinating as it is moving. Afterwards, hop on one of the tour boats to enjoy a leisurely ride down the famous river walk.
Maybe you decided on the Tennessee Jamboree. If so, get ready to have some outdoor fun. Oakridge is located only a short 30-minute drive from Knoxville. The third largest city in Tennessee, it is also the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You’ll find no shortage of things to do once you get to the park. The hiking in this area is outstanding. With over 800 miles of trails, you can get away from the more populated areas and take in the breathtaking vistas. It’s much easier to hear the birdsong, and enjoy the subtle evergreen and fauna smell while away from the road and traffic. If you’re up for something more challenging, consider contacting some of the local outfitters to try your hand at horseback riding.
If you opted to head to Louisiana for the Cajun Jamboree, you will find plenty of ways to occupy your time once the Jamboree has concluded. St. Francisville, nestled close to a bend in the Mississippi river, is less than an hour away from Baton Rouge. Stroll through the capitol of Louisiana and enjoy the rich history of this city which was founded in 1699. Shopping, music, and down home Cajun cuisine are plentiful.
