With its iconic wood paneling and rugged design, once you saw it driving down the trail, up the mountain or even down Main Street, you could hardly forget it.

Instead of being a vehicle of firsts, the Grand Wagoneer was in the position of being one of lasts. As the Jeep brand transferred the Wagoneer and Cherokee names to small unibody platforms, the SJ Wagoneer was preserved as a full-size SUV under the “Grand Wagoneer” moniker.

Not to be taken lightly, it was one of the most luxurious vehicles in production, affectionately known as the golden standard in the SUV market. With car manufacturers producing smaller mid-size SUVs, there just wasn’t room for a full-size anymore.
