Fridays on the Jeep® Blog, we’re featuring some of our favorite concept vehicles. This week, check out the 2004 Jeep® Treo concept model.
We’re jumping back nearly 10 years in our Concept Friday blog series to showcase a vehicle that was introduced in 2004 – the Jeep Treo.
The Treo made its debut at the 2004 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. This futuristic-looking vehicle was designed to easily maneuver around urban areas, while still getting drivers to the trailhead.
The exterior design of the Treo featured the iconic seven-slot grille, rounded headlamps and a large windshield. The grille was visible through the interior of the Treo, allowing drivers to have a more direct view of the road ahead.
Powered by a fuel cell, this vehicle had two electronic motors, one on each driving axle. The Treo had two wings on the back of the hatchback to support the taillights and a bicycle mount.
Inside, the Treo was spacious and had three seats – two in the front and one in the back. The dashboard, steering wheel and pedals were all in one modular unit and could be shifted from the right side of the car to the left, making it adaptable for left- or right-handed driving.
Keep checking back to the Jeep Blog on Fridays for more Concept Friday posts! As always, let us know if you have a favorite concept vehicle you’d like to learn more about.
