In 1976, we celebrated the Bicentennial and observed our country’s rich heritage of becoming an independent republic and freeing us from British colonial rule. It also marked the 200th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence which set forth the rights and the freedoms we enjoy today. 1976 was also a watershed year for the Jeep® brand as we released our iconic “Woody” themed Wagoneer. In its honor, we decided to dig up this classic ‘70s ad to share with you guys.
This man, as depicted in this 1976 advertisement, is obviously no stranger to the unknown and uncharted. As an active individualist, he responds to the beckoning of the outdoors by loading up his Woody Wagoneer, braving sleet and snow, rain and mud, trusting his reliable ride, and gets “there” …wherever “there” might be.
Still today, this is the call of Jeep brand enthusiasts everywhere. Now in 2011, just as true as it was in 1976, our vehicles still speak to the heart of the true outdoorsmen. Some are new fans to the Jeep brand and our vehicles, but many of you have been there since the beginning. Do you remember our ads like this? We remember the way these advertisements made us feel, so if you’re feeling nostalgic, like we are, let us know and we’ll work our hardest to provide you with a little piece of our heritage.
