One of the best things about being a Jeep® brand engineer is that we can transform our visions into reality. This is exactly what we did with Jeep® Compass Canyon. This year we sent our Compass Canyon, along with five other concept cars out into the Moab desert, Utah, to test their strength. The Jeep® Compass Canyon, a built up 2011 model with a 2-1/8-inch lift kit provided by Rocky Road Suspension, provides room to stuff 225/75-R16 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ tires, attached to 16-inch alloy wheels, borrowed from a Jeep Liberty.
We removed the front and rear sway bars for additional wheel articulation and combined some Mopar accessories to make playing in the sand even more fun; a cold-air induction kit, cat-back exhaust system, slush mats and a sport pedal trim kit to name a few. The Jeep Compass’ precious underbody is protected by a set of front and rear skid bars, sill guards and longitudinal skid plates. All of these add-ons worked together to tell the rocks at Moab to eat dirt. Which is exactly what she did. This gem won’t exactly be available for purchase at your nearest Jeep® dealer, of course. Shame, because as those who joined us in Moab could tell you, this Compass really rocks.
*This post discusses off-road driving. The vehicle featured has been modified with non-standard equipment. Rock crawling and off-road driving are inherently dangerous activities. All participants in the activity assumed the risk of off-road driving. Always take proper precautions and exercise discretion before attempting off-road driving, including, without limitation, driving within your ability and experience, using appropriate harnessing devices and having proper safety gear ready.
