The Jeep® Brand’s presence at the North American International Auto Show kicked off on Monday, Jan. 10 at Detroit’s Cobo Center located along a beautifully restored riverfront, in the heart of downtown with a live press conference, led by Jeep® Brand President and CEO, Mike Manley. Mike talked about the significant roles we play as Chrysler Group’s global brand and as a symbol of American identity. After reminiscing about the brand’s storied past, Mike went on to talk about recent market improvement amongst the recovering automotive industry. Next, he unveiled the stars of the show – the all-new 2011 Jeep Compass and the 70th Anniversary Edition models of every Jeep® vehicle.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the updated 2011 Jeep Compass, here’s the low-down. The new exterior features chrome details on its classic seven-slot Jeep grille, a completely new front-end, projector fog lamps, new body-colored side cladding, slimmer roof rails, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a new rear fascia and a muscular hood. The interior features soft-touch trim panels, backlit switches, the new Jeep brand steering wheel – packaged with cruise control – along with a long list of standard features and premium materials. Capability improvements have also been made to the Compass – making it one of the most capable compact SUVs on the market. Compass is Trail Rated® for the first time, and includes over 30 advanced safety and security features: electronic stability control, roll mitigation, hill start assist, and side curtain airbags among others. The Compass now comes with three global powertrain options: 2.0-liter, 2.4-liter world engine, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine specifically for international markets. Additionally, the new Compass gets up to 29 miles per gallon, providing unsurpassed 4×4 and city fuel economy, as well as exceptional capability in its class. The Jeep Compass has been completely redesigned and its new look ties it firmly to the new era of Jeep product design.
Next up, Mike introduced the Jeep® 70th Anniversary Edition models. Each vehicle’s 70th Anniversary package is unique, but all of them include a unique paint color, special Jeep® 70th Anniversary badging, and unique interior designs. Each vehicle has distinct content, but all take both exterior and interior cues from the Grand Cherokee – and as we already know, that isn’t a bad thing! In addition to these new 70th Anniversary Edition models, special events and promotions will be taking place to commemorate 70 years of our unique heritage and tradition of providing capability, refinement and efficiency while still standing as a symbol of personal freedom more than any other brand.
