On the corner of Broadway and 23rd St. in Manhattan’s famed Flatiron District, USA Basketball National Team Finalist Carmelo Anthony and former USA Basketball player Allan Houston hosted the “Power by Design” event to celebrate the global partnership between Jeep® brand and USA Basketball.
On a hardwood basketball court installed in Flatiron Plaza, fans participated in a free-throw shooting contest for the chance to win a trip to see a USA Basketball game in Las Vegas. In front of a large crowd of onlookers, contestants had the opportunity to step up to the free-throw line to shoot free throws on a regulation-size hoop. The task was simple, though not easy: nail 12 consecutive free throws and win the trip to a USA Basketball Exhibition Game in Las Vegas.
Anthony and Houston proved to be gracious hosts and coaches, giving participants tips and instruction. For the event finale, the fan who made the most consecutive free throws squared off against Anthony. And while the USA Basketball National Team Finalist may have been more skilled, the lucky fan still won the trip to Las Vegas to see Anthony and the rest of the USA Basketball squad in action.
